- All participating players will be responsible for their own medical insurance. IBL and its committee are not liable for any injuries on the basketball courts or around the premises.
- Game fees must be paid in full prior to each game ($35). CASH ONLY!!!!
- All players must read and sign roster sheets before being allowed to participate in any games.
- Each team is limited to TEN (10) players per team and are allowed 12 roster spots for adds/drops.
- League officials have the right to place a team in a lower or higher division than what the team originally applied for.
- Players on the roster must play in one (1) game within the first 4 games. Players must play a total of three (3) games to be eligible for the playoffs. No Exception to this rule.
- If a player is injured or is out for the regular season, he/she may elect a replacement. However, the injured player will not be eligible to play the remaining regular season or playoffs. Replacement players must play a minimum of 2 games to qualify for playoffs. Team captains must give the commissioner 48hours in advance to review all injury cases. Cases can be challenged by opposing team. Challenges must be made during or before the start of a game. All cases will be reviewed by the league commissioner. If advance notices are not given for an injured player, the replacement player must wait a week (in order to review the case) – no exception.
- Protest must be filed in writing within 24 hours of incident and must have a direct bearing on the outcome of the game. They must be based on an alleged misinterpretation of the rules – Judgment may not be protested.
- Ineligible player protest must be made prior to the start of a game or before said player enters the game. Player protest will be handled on the court and will require proof of identification. IBL Staff will check the status of the player on the website for each occurrence.
- All team members must wear identical uniforms with numbers. All uniforms must have numbers on the front AND back of the jersey. Any players without a uniform will not be allowed to play. Numbers need to be visible and cannot be taped on the jersey. Each violation will result in 2 points awarded to the other team.
- Game Time:
- Division I 4 x 10 minute quarters, running time. Clock will stop the last two (2) minutes of the fourth quarter on all dead balls if the score is within 10 points. The clock will not stop if there is a eleven (11) or more difference in the score. If the difference is more than 10 points during a free throws, the clock will stay stopped. Clock does not stop after made baskets.
- Week Night League (WNL), Division II and III – 2 x 20 minute halves. Clock will stop the last two (2) minutes of the second half on all dead balls if the score is within 10 points. The clock will not stop if there is a eleven (11) or more difference in the score. If the difference is more than 10 points during a free throws, the clock will stay stopped. Clock does not stop after made baskets.
- A five (5) minute grace period will be allowed on a team to show up for their scheduled game time. After grace period has expired, game is considered a forfeit and the team’s forfeit bond ($70) will be lost. If no forfeit bond is on file, team must pay it prior to the start of their next scheduled game. Scorekeeper will determine which clock to go by.
- Each team must have at least 4 players to start a game.
- Jump ball will start the game. Possession rule in effect.
- Each team is allowed four (4) time-outs per game. Time-outs can be carried over to the second half. Each team will be allowed only one (1) time-out per overtime period; all other time-outs will be lost. Each time-out is a 30 second time-out.
- Each player is allowed five (5) personal fouls (6 fouls ONLY for Division 1). Technical fouls count as personal fouls and team foul. Any players/coaches receiving two (2) technical fouls will be ejected from the game and suspended for a minimum of 1 game. (Uniform Technical fouls do not count against the player or team)
- Teams will be in the one and one bonus on the seventh (7th) team fouls, on the tenth (10th) team fouls the team will be awarded two (2) free throws.
- Any player committing a Flagrant foul or Intentional foul as determined by the referees, will result in two (2) free throws and the opposing team maintains possession of the ball.
- Fighting will result in automatic ejection of all players involved. In addition, all players involved in a fight will be banned from the league and will forfeit their league fees; NO EXCEPTIONS. The league committee will review all incidences. Players will only be reinstated with approval of league officials.
- Substitutes must report to scorer’s table and wait to be called into the game by officials. Walking onto the court before being called in will result in a technical foul on that player.
- Overtime is two (2) minutes stopped clock. Double overtime will be two (2) minutes stopped clock. Triple overtime is sudden death, first team to score wins. Each team will have one (1) time-out in overtime with no carryover.
- No jewelry will be allowed while playing. Anyone playing with jewelry will receive a technical foul.
- Free Throw – The ball is in play once the person at the free throw line releases the basketball.
- Advancing the ball to half-court - Teams can only advance the ball to half court in the 4th Quarter or 2nd half and team must have possession of the ball. After a missed free throw, team with possession of the ball can call a timeout to advance the ball but CANNOT dribble after securing the rebound. Dribbling after the rebound and then calling a timeout will not get ball advancing.
- Dunking - Dunking is allowed. Player is not allowed to excessively hang on the rim after the dunk. Excessive hanging will be determined by the ref and will be followed by a technical foul called. Two (2) free throws will result from the technical foul call.
- National High School Rules will govern all rules not covered.
Note: Participation in IBL is voluntary. IBL reserves the right to reject or accept players/teams at committee’s discretion, current and former players included.
Division 1 will have an extra set of rules & regulations. D1 is where the top talents play and we are incorporating the NBA rules and features.
- Players are given 6 personal fouls.
- There will be continuation on all shooting fouls.
- All Bonus foul shots are 2 shots (there is no 1 and 1). Teams are in the penalty after 5th team foul for each quarter.
- Team that wins the tip, gets possession in the 4th. The other team gets possession 2nd and 3rd.
- In a held ball situation, two players involved in the tie-up will get into a jump-ball situation in the closest circle (center circle or free-throw line circle at either end of the court).
- Technical foul will be one shot then possession returns to the point of interruption.
- Defensive 3 Second will be enforced. You must be in arms length of your defender if standing inside the key.
- 8 Second Count for back court.
- 24 Second Shot Clock.
- All other IBL Rules & Regulations are in effect
